Improving Math and Science Outcomes through STEM Education

Grant Recipient

STEM Greenhouse

Awarded Amount

$90,000

In July of 2020, STEM Greenhouse received a $90,000 grant distributed over three years to continue afterschool STEM programming. The academic enrichment program provides STEM exposure as well as mentoring, and motivation to middle schoolers attending Grand Rapids Public Schools through twice-weekly 90-minute gatherings. Utilizing hands-on activities aligned with Next generation Science Standards, students increase their confidence and proficiency in math and science and gain insights into STEM careers and opportunities. The program currently operates in two middle schools and the three-year grant will expand operations to four schools by the 2021-22 school year. The Steelcase Foundation is honored to expand the reach of STEM Greenhouse’s programming to more students who hopefully will become tomorrow’s STEM professionals.
