Grant Recipient

West Michigan Center for Art and Technology

Awarded Amount

$150,000

In April of 2022, the Steelcase Foundation renewed support for West Michigan Center for Art and Technology’s Teen Arts + Tech program with a $150,000 three-year grant. Teen Arts + Tech is a nationally recognized model for creative youth development for high school students from the Grand Rapids Public Schools which uses the arts and digital media to create, explore, and connect to college and career. The tuition-free afterschool program meets twice weekly throughout the school year and provides students access to studio-based learning and peer collaborative opportunities to connect to community partners on public projects. Students gain insights into opportunities for future education and creative careers and express themselves through artistic and creative endeavors in a safe and welcoming environment. The Steelcase Foundation is excited to continue support for WMCAT and its development of the talent pipeline of creative professionals for years to come.
