In July of 2022, the Steelcase Foundation awarded Grand Rapids Civic Theatre (GRCT) a two-year $228,000 grant to cover the cost of two staff positions to support its School of Theatre Arts and the formation of a City Wide Drama Club, which will level the playing field in Grand Rapids by providing more students access to the performing arts. City Wide Drama Club will fill in the void in theatre arts opportunities for students in Grand Rapids Public Schools and create pathways for local young people and their families to find places of belonging at the Civic Theatre. 

Civic Theatre has hired two key staff members, an Outreach Manager, and an Education and Marketing Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of the School of Theatre Arts and its City Wide Drama Club.
