In 2023, the Steelcase Foundation awarded Refugee Education Center a three-year $300,000 grant to support its continuum of refugee youth programming and services, which include early childhood care, extracurricular support, and navigation services to help youth and their families adjust to their new life in America.

Following the January 20, 2025, suspension of the refugee resettlement program by the federal government, Executive Director Meg Derrer shared an update on the state of refugee resettlement and its impacts on REC’s ability to continue to serve our local new American community.
